Software weenie, Consultant, Project Architect, Systems Engineer, Dead Head, Knower of worthless trivia, Dancer that wants to be a welder, Shattered, Shadoobie..........

Been doing this software thang for going on 29 years now.  Started out on FORTRAN and the Mother Language, Assembler.  Man, how times have changed.  The last 19 years have been working on Hogan Banking Software.  Pretty good gig.

And for you Technocrats out there, here are some sample programs that y'all might find useful in your programming endeavors (for zOS systems):

  1. ALC$BYTE - Convert 1 byte into 8 bits
  2. ALC$CHAR - Convert non-displayable characters into displayable characters
  3. ALC$DUMP - Print data in dump format
  4. ALC$DYNA - Dynamic Allocation (SVC 99) functions
  5. ALC$END - Abend program and force Dump
  6. ALC$GET - Read data from any DSORG=PS dataset
  7. ALC$JOB - Get Job Name
  8. ALC$LOAD - GETMAIN for selected tables and then load and execute selected program
  9. ALC$PDSL - PDS (DSORG=PO) processing
  10. ALC$PUT = Write data to any DSORG=PS dataset
  11. ALC$STCK = Get (or Convert) current TOD (Time of Day) information in x'HHMMSSthmiju...CCYYMMDD' format
  12. ALC$VSAM = I/O processing for VSAM files
  13. COB$DOW = Get DOW (Day of Week)

Clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Like acid and oil on a madman’s face
His reason tends to fly away
Like lesser birds on the four winds
Like silver scrapes in may
And now the sand’s become a crust
Most of you have gone away

Come susie dear, let’s take a walk
Just out there upon the beach
I know you’ll soon be married
And you’ll want to know where winds come from
Well it’s never said at all
On the map that carrie reads
Behind the clock back there you know
At the four winds bar

Hey! hey! hey! hey!

Four winds at the four winds bar
Two doors locked and windows barred
One door to let to take you in
The other one just mirrors it

Hey! hey! hey! hey!

Hellish glare and inference
The other one’s a duplicate
The queenly flux, eternal light
Or the light that never warms
Yes the light that never, never warms
Or the light that never
Never warms
Never warms
Never warms

The clock strikes twelve and moondrops burst
Out at you from their hiding place
Miss carrie nurse and susie dear
Would find themselves at four winds bar

It’s the nexus of the crisis
And the origin of storms
Just the place to hopelessly
Encounter time and then came me

Hey! hey! hey! hey!

Call me desdinova
Eternal light
These gravely digs of mine
Will surely prove a sight
And don’t forget my dog
Fixed and consequent

Entering Charlie's Office, known as Hippie Hollow around here.

As you enter my office, here is my partial shrine to Jerry Gracia and Grateful Dead. Also notice the honarary Buckaroo Banzai patch.

What a nicely organized desk! Notice what is left of my pony tail on the back board.

Some more Grateful Dead stuff as well as how to throw a 2-seam fast ball. Never can be without those instructions!

Time to exit the 60's and head back to reality (although I'll substitute my own reality for the time being).
